3 Peaks Fell Race Photos 2014

3 Peaks Fell Race stats (Three Peaks Fell Race stats)

  • Distance of the 3 Peaks Fell Race is 37.4km (23.3 miles).
  • The 3 Peaks fell race has 1608 meters (5279 feet) of ascent.
  • Andy Peace holds the fastest time on the current route, he set the 3 peaks mens record on 28 April 1996 with a time of 2 hours 46mins 03 secs.
  • The ladies 3 peaks record was set in 2008 by Anna Pichrtova with a time of 3 hours 14 mins 43 secs.

In 2008 the 3 peaks was the ‘World Long Distance Mountain Running Race ‘The race route has changed a number of times, there was a minor change in 2013 with a path upgrade over Whitber Hill details of the change http://racingsnakes.com/three-peaks-fell-race-new-route-2013 but this was not significant enough to call it a new route (in my opinion the change in 2013 will make the course slightly quicker)

Dunnerdale Fell Race Photos

Dunnerdale Fell Race Photos will be published on racingsnakes.com/photos soon after the race. The photos of the Dunnerdale fell race will be taken out on te course with the aim to get the best photos possible that reflect the pasion of the fell race. The Dunnerdale fell race is held on 9 November 2013. The race often attracts around 250 runners, with the fastest runners completeing the course in around 40 minutes. The Dunnerdale fell race is held in the lake district National Park and he start is from Broughton Mills. The Dunnerdale fell race is organised by the Black Combe Runners.  The race is clseed as a ‘short classic’ race, the distance is 8km with 550 meters of ascent (and descent).The racefollows a circular route with checkpoints at

The race climbs out of Broughton Mills climbing The Knott and Ravens Cragg, at this point the race descends to the road crossing before climbing back up to Stickle Pike, the route then descends before undulating towards Great Stickle. From here the race descends back to the start at Broughton Mills. After the race there is food provided in the local pub.fell runner lake district

Great Whernside Fell Race 2013

The Great Whernside Fell race Photos can be seen on http://racingsnakes.com./Great_Whernside_fell_race.php.  The great Whernside feel race starts at 11:30am on Saturday 26 October 2013 from the old campsite in Kettlewell.  Photographs of the race will be available soon after the race.  Kettlewell is a pretty village in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  The race route of the Great Whernside fell race leaves the old campsite and heads up for a steep start, this gets slightly easier for a while and heads up to summit Great Whernside. (not to be confused with Whernside – one of the Yorkshire three peaks).  The fell runners descend at breakneck speeds and it is great spectators sport.  Although this is a short race of 4miles, the route ascends (and descends) nearly 1600ft of climb with mixed terrain for the runners to cope with. There is a mix of good short grass fields, slippery rocks and boggy marshes which captures out more than the odd runner out.

Whernside fell raceThe fell race is usually quite well attended and the fastest runners can make short work of the course in just over half an hour. The organiser for this race Pete Jebb.  Say hello if your at the race and I will certainly be trying to capture your best side for that great photo.
