The Spine race is possibly the most brutal foot race in Britain. No two races are ever the same due to the weather conditions being so changeable in January.
The Spine race started from Edale in the Peak District National Park and finished in Kirk Yetholm and was the entire length of the Pennine way, all 268 miles of it.
The Spine Challenger (08:00am start) and The MRT Challenge (09:00 start) set off a day earlier than The Montane Spine Race (started Sunday at 08:00) and covered 108 miles starting in Edale and finishing in Hawes.
